This is a very small thing, but I feel it could add something. How about a better default image for titles without posters? Perhaps something with a big question mark in the middle?
Also, it should be made to match the aspect ratio of other titles within the same view. For instance, when viewing recently added episodes in NEO, it’s kind of ugly to see portrait-based default images in the middle of all the nice landscape episode images. See image below for an example. This doesn’t necessarily have to be an exact match. Maybe we just need a few versions of the image – poster, thumb, etc.
Also themes should be able to override it.

I would also like to improve these. I’d also like to make it customizable so that you can provide your own default image. This is definitely doable but I don’t think will be making it into Apollo SP1.
I like having them stick out like a sore thumb. Not only does it make them easier to find speed scrolling, it forces you to fix what you want to be perfect. I don’t use any local data. I rely on the providers. TMDB/thetvdb has a habit of slight title changes from time to time that render what was once cached, worthless, and the sore thumb is how I keep them current.
This has been resolved as of 2.6.1 (Atlas SP1):
Support for customized default images. You should find a new “Default” directory under your IBN after install. Within it will be several directories under which you can place any of our valid image types (folder, backdrop, logo, etc.) and these images will be used for those types of items if no other is found.
