Do you have a large library of movies and TV? Can’t decide what to watch tonight? Let MBTV create a set of TV-like “channels” to choose from and present them to you in a familiar program grid:

MBTV will give you lots of options all customized to your content and recent viewing history.

Let MBTV give you several options of an entire nights viewing with selections based upon the last few movies you watched. Just watched “Black Hawk Down”? Here’s a channel of several movies that are like that one.
Like some of them but don’t want to watch them all? Or you just want to start a little later in the channel because you don’t have that much time? Just scroll over, select the one you want to start and “Play from here”.

Thought you could watch all night but something came up and you need to stop in the middle? No problem. MBTV will keep track of where you were on a particular channel and you can resume it at a later time.

It even includes a visual progress indicator in the program guide.
Shuffle or completely rebuild channels that you don’t like. Or “freeze” ones you do so that they will stay there even when the rest of the channel lineup is rebuilt.
Don’t feel like any of those options tonight? How about channels based on the top Actors, Directors and Genres in your library?

MBTV uses a custom view to present its channels so it won’t follow the theme you have installed. But it has three built-in “skins” to choose from to more closely match the theme you are using for the rest of media browser. Plus, you can customize your own skin if you wish.

Note: MBTV works great with a direct entry point from media center. It’s like a whole new view into your media browser library.
To get started with MBTV you just need to tell it which collections to use as sources for both movies and tv.

Then just build the channels and get to seeing your media in a whole new way.
Be sure and build the initial channel lineup after you pick your collections. This is done with the “Rebuild” button on the “Channel Groups” page.
MBTV will produce a pretty good set of relevant channels right out of the box but it will also let you customize them in a number of ways:

By default, MBTV will re-build your channel lineup each night during the service refresh. But you can customize that interval and freeze channels so that they won’t be rebuilt.
Version 1.0 Now Available through the Configurator
MBTV is a premium plug-in from ebrSoft but will work for 14 days in trial mode. Even if you ran the alpha or beta versions, you should still have a valid trial period. MBTV will be fully functional through this trial but will need to be registered via the store to continue working beyond that time.
Just install it in the normal way and configure it how you wish. Then sit back and enjoy viewing your media in a whole new way.

Version 1.0.0.0
First, congrats! I have really liked the way this is developing and will contribute now that I can.
Second is a big of a bug report; after installing 1.0, I ran into an error where it doesn’t rebuild channels. I get this in my logfiles…
Didn’t even bother with the trial, just purchased as soon as I saw it.
Anything made by EBR I can trust will make my Media Centre experience better.
I had to physically delete the beta from the plugin folder though and then install v1.00 release through the configurator, because without doing so caused a rebuild to just sit there and crash.
One thing I have really noticed, is how far MediaBrowser has come from it’s initial stages. And I like the fact it’s still evolving.
completely agree.. paid as soon as i saw this.. can’t wait to see how this plugin evolves and continues to change the way we watch our tv series.
thanks to all involved, but especially EBR.. congrats on the initial non-beta release!
Congrats on this release!
I assume the IBN/General/mbtv is the place to put a collection of images for folder and backdrops?
Congrats mate! I plan on buying this asap. Is there anyway to hide this from the EHS and just use direct entry points? I haven’t tried it yet, but I imagine it looks out of place in NEO.
Hey EBR,
Do you want problems reported here or as seperate bug reports? Here are the details anyway…
The app configurator tells me the last refresh happened at 22:38 tonight. When I went into MBTV though only suggested tv was showing media. All others had “0 Channels”.
Here is the Core log for the time but here is the Service log which also shows significant errors for MBTV albeit much earlier in the day. You will note this error:
10:38:23.052 PM 24/4/2012 , Error , Error trying to clear cache of object type: MBTV% ( Unhandled exception. Type=System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteException Msg=SQLite error [n] unknown error Src=System.Data.SQLite Method=Reset Line=0 Col=0 [n] StackTrace= [n] at System.Data.SQLite.SQLite3.Reset(SQLiteStatement stmt) [n] at System.Data.SQLite.SQLite3.Step(SQLiteStatement stmt) [n] at System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteDataReader.NextResult() [n] at System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteDataReader..ctor(SQLiteCommand cmd,, CommandBehavior behave) [n] at System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior behavior) [n] at System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() [n] at MediaBrowser.Library.Persistance.SqliteItemRepository.ClearCache(String objType) ) , , 54 , Worker thread for MBTV rebuild
Anyway I restarted MB itself and went back into MBTV. It did a refresh and told me to restart MB again which I did. Now the channels are back.
Let me know if you need anything else.
TV collection and movie collection show nothing.
My media is all located on a remote server, and I have a mapped drive used to access it. Not sure if this is the reason.
Do I need to configure something on my end to make this work?

Fantastic idea and a great add-on to my Media Browser, I will definitely be purchasing this, a couple of things I would like to ask…
I would like to have some Childrens Channels, selecting 3 or 4 separate folders which have my kids programs and films in, is that possible now or could it be possible to add individual folders to certain channels for future releases and not just Films or TV?
How do I edit the size of the screen for MBTV? I had this problem with Media Browser which has been edited and it now fills my screen, MBTV has a gap around the edges and BLUE screen is showing, I would just like to strecth it out to the edges.
Thank you again for a great product and keep up the good work…
Anyone have any tips on my post in summary I paid for MBTV however it is still expired.
