There seems to be some issues with using themes in MB 2.5.1 Vista. I am encountering the “Invalid Application Error” specifically with the Chocolate & Simplicity themes but if you have a look at the below outstanding Bug report users have reported issues with a number of the themes:
The error is generated for Chocolate when I try to launch Media Browser from MediaCenter. For Simplicity it allows me to get in but then as soon as I try to select a menu item I get te error message.
I have reinstalled both themes a number of times to test the issue and have also checked the Windows Event Log but no error log is generated (another user also experienced same issue with Event Log)
If someone can help with this it would be great, in the meantime I’ll be going theme-less in Vista
I’ll try adding the referenced hyperlink again…
You may wanna check out this thread MB 2.5.3 and Chocolate - Invalid App Crash.
With no Dev actively working on Chocolate and Simplicity it will probably no longer be supported.
Thanks for that… it’s a shame as I’m really happy with how Chocolate is working on my Win 7 HTPC setup, would be a bummer if it it’s not supported
Thanks for your help
I will test tomorrow and let you know It’s a vista install on laptop of the last version of mb to run on vista
It has the same error now with new .dll file as previously. I don’t know that it’s worth your while to create a vista/mb 2.5.1 specific build for Chocolate, how hard it would be for the file to be valid for all buids or whether there is any demand for you to go to the trouble… It might be best if there is just a communication to say the Chocolate is only compatible with latest MB version? And regular warning in the configurator for those downloading plugins that it requires MB 2.6… those are just my thoughts…
