Hi everyone! I`m having a issue with .mp4 files and their subtitles (not loading). I have only these problem with the .mp4 files, other files work perfect with the subtitles and, if i open the .mp4 files with other player (Media Pleayer) they will show up perfectly. So i come to the conclussion its a problem with MediaBrowser player and the .mp4 files only.

I will like to have some help solving these please. Thanks!

(sory for my bad english)

MediaBrowser uses Windows Media Player as it’s video player. If it worked with Media Player, it should work with Media Browser.

if your using a x64 OS, MediaBrowser uses the 64-bit Media Player. When Media Player is launched from the desktop, the 32-bit version is launched. I believe your setup may be different between your 32-bit and 64-bit codec packs.

Hi! thanks for replying! I made a mistake explaining, when i say media player i mean “Media Player Classic home cinema”, i also try with “GOM Player” and works perfectly well. But i just chek with “Windows Media Player” and it doesn’t work, I think it may be something in configuration but really i have no idea what could be wrong. (the problem is only with .mp4 files)

What are you using to display subtitles – ffdshow or DirectVobSub? Ensure they’re configured properly.

If you’re using Shark007 – then ensure you have the latest build, subs didn’t work properly for all file types in some of the recent builds. You need at least 3.6.7, but you may as well get the latest.

  • Hi! thanks again! im using DirectVobSub , but if you think thats the problem i will change it. I will like to add that if i open any other file (.avi or .flv )on windows media, they will show subtitles. But when i open .mp4 files they wont work. But, if i open the .mp4 or the .avi in media player classic they will work both fine without any problem, so i guess the configuration of the codec is ok – tomast 11 months ago
  • Personally I prefer DirectVobSub over ffdshow subtitles, and I have it working for all video file types (avi, mkv, mp4, etc). There’s different codecs involved depending on the video file you’re playing st the time. I’ve had the same problem in the past – subs would work for everything but mkv, then I’d adjust settings and then subs would work for everything but mp4. But, now everything works for me. I suggest uninstalling Shark007 and installing the latest version, and see how you go from there. Remember to run the settings app as admin and let it automatically adjust it’s settings. Do the same with the 64bit settings app as well. – AdrianW 11 months ago
