Discuss MediaBrowserService.exe uses too much RAM

It currently sits at 61MB and it isn’t even doing anything. My media collection isn’t even attached. Yesterday it was at 80MB while doing nothing. I haven’t changed anything: there’s no reason for it to use up so much.

  • I thought doing a refresh would help, but my memory usage for the program has shot up to 101MB. – Malickfan86 10 months ago
  • It’s probably just windows memory management. I just started the service on my PC for the first time since boot today, and ran a refresh and it went up to around 190MB, then dropped to 178MB when the refresh finished and it’s staying there. – AdrianW 10 months ago
  • It’s usually much lower, though – around 5-10MB, I think. Is there a way I could lower its memory usage? – Malickfan86 10 months ago

  • I have noticed the high usage also. In fact I can’t have the MB service and meta-browser 2.0 running at the same time if I want video backdrops to work. :) – chef 10 months ago
