MB to retrieve Metadata for multiple eps on DVD and combine to single xml?

Following the discussion here and here concerning DVD rips containing multiple TV episodes.

They can use a naming convention such as:

D:\TV Shows\Great Show\Season 1\S01E01-E04\Video_TS

But MB is presently unable to automatically retrieve their metadata from TVDB.

Could code be added to MB TVDB provider that can interpret the S01E01-E04 (or alternative accepted) naming convention and retrieve the metadata for each separate episode and then combine the data for each episode into a single xml that lists each episodes details?

It could also select a thumbnail from one episode to represent the collection.
