I have a confession to make.

I am back with XBMC and lovin it.. but I STILL LOVE Gamebrowser and find it is far superior to Advanced Launcher so what i have done is meshed the two.. I use mediabrowser /gamebrowser soley for roms / Games and use XBMC for my movies / TV amd nedia center for my live tv/recordings.. and it all works seemlessly!

I would why xbmc Go with plex server and media browser Much better combo and plex is doing well

  • Actually of the TWO XBMC vs PLEX XBMC is a better choice and plays HD content way better.. plex is prone to stuttering video with HD 1080p I love media browser.. but mediacenter is a dog, with all my video on a server now i found starting video takes up to 20 seconds with WMC and 2 seconds with XBMC over my 100mbs network.. (no i am not giganet yet) And over wireless takes about 5 seconds with XBMC and 30-40 seconds with WMC. But gamebrowser is the best game in town.. so I am not dropping MB all together at the moment. Will be posting details on my setup tommoorw as work ran late.. and i am exhaustd – Viper 10 months ago
  • viper all the dealy thing you talking about can be fix with upgrade from cat4 or cat5 to cat6 or cat7 and gigbyte switch and stroung routor 1GB i have no glitch nor delay on playing from server to media center pc i am able to even tranfer file 10 GB over network from one pc to second pc in less then 3 Munites at 85 to 127 MB/s it is faster then usb or hard drive to hard drive tranfer. i seen sometime i got around 156 MB/s on some larg file Good luck – jacklynee 10 months ago
  • Watch out for flow control though – jacklynee 10 months ago
  • or spend 0$ and run xbmc? – Viper 10 months ago
  • Just out of curiosity why does it take 20 secs to launch a 1080p video? I’ve tried it on my systems take’s less than 2 secs with the internal player. All my videos are stored on a NAS, haven’t tried over wireless… – throgmorton 10 months ago

  • yeah i use to have XBMC with add-ons for wmc so you can use one remote control and then fire up wmc first then xbmc and once you shutdown xbmc then it goes back to wmc Good job bro – jacklynee 10 months ago
  • I have it loading wmc via advanced launcher and exiting wmc with the esc key or the clear button on my remote – Viper 10 months ago

Are you dealing with DRM recorded TV? I had tried a similar setup trying to use WMC for.wtv files, but it was really clunky. xnappo

  • I only record shows that I am going to watch after i get off work.. anything i store is retrieved from the proper sources… its just nice to get home and be able to watch say masterchef right after work – Viper 10 months ago
  • Ok – but still – are you using the WMC player for .wtv files? – xnappo 10 months ago
  • yes i am – Viper 10 months ago
  • When a wtv file finishes, how do you handle the exit back to XBMC? Thanks, xnappo – xnappo 10 months ago
  • I have a custon hotkey script that runs all the time and closes mediacenter when ever i hit ‘esc’ or the clear button on my remote. – Viper 10 months ago

I integrate XBMC and WMC by using my harmony remote. I have one button to launch xbmc and one to launch WMC Live TV or Recorded TV. It’s easy to move from one app to the other that way without having to scroll through menus.

So yeah, I did stuff like this for a while, but in the end I decided just to stay in MB as the additional speed of XBMC + subtitle support (my main issues with MB) didn’t really make up for the delay when switching between the two apps(I also had this setup on my remote).

Plus I use extenders so I have to have MB configured anyway really.

For me to switch to XBMC again, there would need to be a breakthrough in WTV DRM support.
