If you are using Media Browser with a remote control then there are some special functions assigned to some buttons, these are as follows.
Core Media Browser buttons and their functions

The Record button
- Refreshes metadata, etc. for the currently selected item. This button can be used on: media collections, folders, movies, episodes, podcasts, trailers
The Clear button
- If you press the clear button then MediaBrowser will toggle the watched status of the currently focused item. This button can be used on: movies, series, seasons, episodes, podcasts, trailers
The * button
- As of Media Browser 2.2.1 (codename Firestorm) the * button activates a context menu to perform item specific actions on the currently focused item.
The Play button
- The function of the Play button varies based on the focused item, for a folder with multiple items inside, a TV show for example, the Play button will produce a menu asking what play mode you want. If pressed while a single video, such as a movie or single TV episode, then Media Browser will begin to play the file.
The Channel Up/Down buttons
- These buttons function similarly to the Up/Down scroll buttons, but scroll further with each press, this is useful when navigating large lists.
The # button
- In certain themes this button toggles the pop-up info window to view extended information about the focused item without leaving the current view.
Tips and Tricks for remotes
Jump to…
When using Windows 7, there are several ways to quickly jump or skip to a certain location in a media file.
FastForward/Rewind
Enter the time in minutes and seconds and hit FF/RW. ie. 35 mins 30 seconds forward is 3530 FFSkip Forward/Back
Enter number of skips to perform and hit Skip Forward/Backward. if your skip interval is the default 30 seconds you press 5 + Skip Forward to go 2.5 minutes forward. To change the skip interval, have a look herePlay
Enter a time (eg. 40 = 40 minutes, 115 = 1 hour 15 minutes, etc) then press the play button, Windows Media Center will skip directly to that point within the media.
Triple Tap
When entering alpha characters in Windows Media Center using the number keys on a Gyration Media Center Remote only numbers are entered.
Gyration has an application to enable this functionality. You can find it on their Troubleshooting page.
