The configuration menu can be accessed from within Media Browser using the wrench (or spanner) icon.
The following options apply to MediaBrowser 2.2.2 (codename Thunderblade). Older version might not have all options listed, or may have slightly different names.
Buttons on the Configuration menu
“Clear Cache” button
– Deletes the local cache folder which contains copies of all metadata files and images. Use this e.g. if MediaBrowser never displays new data or images which you have updated (even after closing and restarting the program, pressing REC with the item selected, etc.).
Note – this function does not currently work, you have to delete the folder manually
The “Clear Cache” button has been removed in Media Browser Codename Cronos. You can now clear the cache through the Media Browser Configuration Wizard.
“Reset Defaults” button
- Deletes your custom configuration files and restores MediaBrowser to all its defaults. Use this if the program fails due to incorrect configuration files.
“Update Library” button (available since Media Browser codename Cronos)
- Refreshes the entire library immediately. Normally a full refresh will happen every 24 hours.
General tab
Logging
- Turns on logging for troubleshooting.
- Disabled by default
Enable Internet Providers
- Allows MediaBrowser to download MetaData information, Posters, Banners and Backdrops from third party providers such as TheTVDB.com and TheMovieDB.com.
- enabled by default
Automatic Updates
- Will prompt to install new major releases of MediaBrowser. Disable this if you intend to regularly compile from the latest source code.
- Disabled by default
Beta Updates
- Also prompt for beta releases.
- Disabled by default
Enable EHS
- Enable the Enhanced Home Screen for Top-Level items
- Enabled by default
Show Clock
- Show the current time in Media Browser screens
- Disabled by default
Dim Unselected Posters
- Make posters that are not selected slightly darker
- Enabled by default
Hide Focus Frame
- Don’t show a border around selected posters in Poster views
- Disabled by default
Always Show Details
- Always display the details page for media
- Enabled by default
Exclude Remote Content In Searches
- This option will exclude content from the web (such as iTunes trailers) when searching the entire library.
- Enabled by default
Enhanced Mouse Support
- Enable better scrolling support with the mouse. Leave OFF if you don’t use a mouse. Won’t take effect until Media Browser is restarted.
- Disabled by default
Poster Grid Spacing
- This defines how many pixels to put between each cover in poster view
- 0 by default
Thumb Width Split
- Specifies the size of the area to use for displaying posters in thumb view
- 550 by default
Breadcrumb Count
- Specifies how many navigation items to show in the trail of entered items
- 2 by default
Show Fan art on Views
- Display fan art as a background in views that support this capability.
- [TIER 1] Highest tier background effect takes precedence.
- Enabled by default
Show Fan art on Views – Rotate
- Show all available fan art in a sequence (can be randmon).
- Enabled by default
Show Fan art on Views – Random
- Select random fan art from the available backdrops.
- Disabled by defualt
Show Initial Folder Background
- Display initial backdrop in all views.
- [TIER 2] Highest tier background effect takes precedence.

- If a folder is indexed by Genre, it will stay indexed by Genre each time it is entered.

- Show the number of unwatched items in a folder on the folder poster

- Show an indicator if all items inside a folder have been watched

- Show an indicator if a show has been marked as watched

- Scroll to the first unwatched item when entering a folder

Allow nested movie folders
- Allow the ability to put Movie folders inside of other Movie folders

Auto enter single folder items
- If a folder contains only one item, automatically select and either play or go to the detail view for that item

Treat Multiple Files As Single Movie
- If a folder contains more than one playable item, play them in sequence
- This relates to the “Multiple File Size Limit” setting

Themes tab
Visual Theme
- The basic presentation style for Media Browser screens.
- In Thunderblade only the Default theme is available out of the box

Color Scheme
- The style of color of Background, etc. Won’t take effect until Media Browser is restarted.
Font size
- The size of the fonts to use in Media Browser. Won’t take effect until Media Browser is restarted.
Parental Controls tab
MB ships with parental control functionality, this can be used to restrict the content which is accessible without entering a user defined PIN.
The Parental Controls page of the Media Browser configuration menu shows the following options
Security Pin
- Before you can alter any parental control settings you must enter the current PIN. If you have not already set a PIN you must first do so in the Media Browser Configuration Wizard.
Enable Parental Blocks
- Enables or disables parental controls
- Enabled by default (because you needed to enable this to set the PIN)
Max Allowed Rating
- This option defines the highest MPAA rating which can be accessed without entering the PIN. A brief description of each rating is displayed when selected.
- PG-13 by default
Block Unrated Content
- Specifies whether content with no MPAA rating specified in its metadata should be blocked or not
- Disabled by default
Hide Blocked Content
- If this option is enabled then blocked content will also be hidden from view until the library is unlocked.
- Enabled by default
Unlock on PIN Entry
- If this option is enabled then when the PIN is entered then the entire library will be unlocked for a specified period, otherwise only the current item will be unlocked.
- Enabled by default
Unlock Period (Hours)
- Specifies how long the library will remain unlocked if the previous option is enabled.
- 1 hour by default
Enter New PIN
- Allows you to change the current PIN
