Global reputation recalc

Quite a few of you may have logged on today to find out your reputation on community tracker dropped.

It sucks to lose reputation all of the blue. If its any consolation I lost close to 200 points as well.

There was a very good reason for this:

Have a look at my reputation

I added a new section to the user page that graphs your reputation changes. When I implemented this feature, certain numbers were not adding up, certain bits of history were missing change dates and so on.

The only way to fix this was a full reputation recalc.

I apologize for taking away some reputation, but hopefully earning reputation will be a bit more fun now that it is a lot more transparent.

As always if you have any ideas on how to improve stuff on the tracker please post them at http://meta.community-tracker.com

@sam: Just now I stumbled on the whole graph and reputation history. This looks very good! Nice job Sam.

I did notice I lost 2 badges and some 50 rep, but heh… the next wish is only at 2000 rep so what’s the difference :)

Keep it up!

@everyone: If you don’t already know what reputation is and why you should care, you can have a read here: What is a wish and why do I care?

By gaining reputation you'll get more wishes, which you can (and should) give to features or bugs on the tracker. The only way for the developers to know what’s hot is by looking at the number of wishes.

So if you have spare wishes, use them! give your support to the topics that you think are important.

Not a fair system if you are not technically minded.

what do you mean? You get badges if you submit feature requests or bugs that get fixed. The badges give you reputation. You can also get upvotes for insightful posts. Those do not necessarely have to be technical posts. Just helpful feedback.

+1 for Birkoff’s comments. I'm not really technical, just really fussy. Devs will always have high scores as implementers but if you look at the rep of the guys doing the boxset graphics, most of the rep comes from upvotes. That’s the idea of community reputation, contribute in a positive way, in any way, to the community and the rep will follow.
