Turning off the automatic startup option in MediaCenter

If you previously used the default option to launch Media Center at windows startup, you need to disable this.

  • Start Media Center normally (do not use the shortcut we just created)
  • Navigate to “Tasks” and click on this

  • Click “General”

  • Click “Startup and Window Behaviour”

  • Deselect the option “Start Windows Media Center when Windows starts”

To confirm if all was done correctly, please reboot your machine. After the reboot Windows Media Center should start automatically after logon and you should be presented with the Media Browser EHS or initial screen. (This is optional, however.)

  • Works, but it doesn’t actually start media browser on windows startup. It takes you to the media browser startup screen. Would be better if it just started media browser. – MartyW 22 days ago
  • Sorry, there was a formatting issue with address you need to paste. it was missing a slash. i've corrected it. try again. it will go straigt to the EHS. – Birkoff 22 days ago
  • You rock. Works brilliantly. I also pin the shortcut to my taskbar for quick easy access to media browser. Thanks again – MartyW 15 days ago
