TV & Broadcast Networks Logos [by Techols]

If you're into TV recording then this is the package for you. I have created over 500 broadcast and TV networks logos, many in multiple formats, i.e. some white or gray-scale, some are colored, most have the HD and non-HD versions to choose from, most appear as they would on your TV in the bottom corner of the screen, meaning some are translucent.

Since there are multiple styles to choose from in this package it is NOT in the same structure as the IBN/Studio format. There are 8 folders and the logo inside is named by the stations call letters or abbreviated first few letters. This was the only way I could think of to give everybody the chance to choose which style works best for them.

If anybody has a suggestion for missing logos please post them here. Please either post the image here in the forum so I can grab it or post a link to where I can get the image from for creation. The clearer and larger the image I can work from the better the scalability and clarity will be.

Download V 2.0

Special Thanks to Jon at theHTPC.net for hosting the Pack.

Techols, perhaps you can change the folder structure in your zip file so all studio images are in their correct foldernames with folder.png filenames.

You could simply have a folder structure like:

\Style 1\ABC\folder.png
\Style 1\CNBC\folder.png

\Style 2\ABC\folder.png
\Style 2\CNBC\folder.png

\Style 3\ABC\folder.png
\Style 3\CNBC\folder.png

The user can then simply copy the contents of a particular style and paste the folders in the Studio IBN folder. That would make things easier for us :)

  • Good idea. I hadn’t thought about doing it that way. It will take a while but I'll work on it for the next release. – techols about 2 years ago

yes, thats the IBN naming standard, and even though you have alternatives you are losing out on possible users of these because they are not drag and drop compatible. Are the folders the correct names to match meta info? If not then you would need to start there, then renaming all files in those folders to folder.png is an easy fix.

I need some advice on this before making the new package available to download. All folders are in the “IBN/Studio” structure for easy implementation.

As it is now I have created 4 folders:

  • Base Set, Alternative Designs, BW – Gray Scale, HD Versions

Base Set includes one of every logo whether colored or BW/Gray scaled.

Q: Should the HD versions be included in the base set with “HD” at the end of the folder name? Or should they stay separate allowing for the user to decide to replace the non HD version or not?

Base Set = 207
Alternative Designs = 10
BW – Gray Scale = 32
HD Versions = 28

I have removed all the channel number specific logos. Like the one for “The CW” had a channel of “11”, that is now just the logo for the station.

All the folders contents now follow the IBN structure making it easy to just copy and paste them into your “Studio” folder. If you want to replace any one logo in the base set just copy/paste/replace and you're done. Same holds true if you want to use the BW – Gray scaled version or the Alternative Designs or the HD Versions. All the folder have the same name so again copy/paste/replace.

Since I don’t record TV for use with MB some of the folders names may have to be tweaked. I'm not sure how the metadata would be pulled so example:

You may have to rename the folder “TLC” to “The Learning Channel” depending on how the grabbers for TV shows pulls the data.

I'll make the new package available once I get a general consensus from the group here about adding the HD version to the base package or keeping them separate.

  • Wow thank you for taking the time to restructure your folders to the standard. I would say leave the HD seperate as you have them, so if people like a HD logo of the base one is easy to just drag and drop since the folders name match. Yes when you release this you will need to ask for feedback from the community to report in on folder naming, and fix those as people report in. Beautiful work. – BAS about 2 years ago

I think my suggestion pretty much matches the consensus. The folder structure needs to support existing IBN standards. You can offer your icons separated into categorized folders, but the folder names of the TV studios need to follow that of what is available on theTVDB.com or you will lose a huge audience that doesn’t want to do the manual work of adding the names in to match your folder names. That will allow, as already stated, easy drag and drop by choice.

  • the fact that he went through and did what he did organizing by himself i applaud you techols. – BAS about 2 years ago
  • Thanks Big. Jon, I went to that site but it’s down for a few weeks. – techols about 2 years ago

  • Actually, if you do http://www.thetvdb.com, you can get there. Not to say they aren’t still having issues staying afloat…they've been down most of the last 24 hours. That’s where your TV network names are going to come from though. – Jon about 2 years ago

OK! As soon as Jon makes the download available the naming convention will no longer be an issue. The new package follows the IBN naming convention. The new version number will be 2.0, so make sure the file you grab states that in the name.

Here is what’s included:

Base Set = 241
Alternative Designs = 18
BW – Gray Scale = 43
HD Versions = 30

All sub-folders in each main folder with the exception of “Comedy Central (Blue HD)” and “Comedy Central (White HD)” in the HD Versions folder all have the same name throughout the collection. This will make it easier to just copy the base set to your “Studio” folder and if you want one of the alternative images whether the gray scaled version, the HD or alternative version now you simply copy/paste/replace and you're done.

Please give feedback to the folder names. If they need to be changed I'll make the change in the download for others. I have visited the site “http://www.thetvdb.com” and made the names match what they seem to be pulling as “Network”. I have also added many new logos especially where anime is concerned – I know this is a popular genre so I have included as many logos as I could find.

Any requests for missing logos let me know and I'll see what I can do to incorporate them.

These are great!

Personally, I would love to see more black and white logos… similar to your movie studio set. I think these always looks so much slicker on top of a busy backdrop.

  • I agree. Most stations show a translucent (white/gray scale) version on screen. Maybe I'll make a white/gray scale version of the TV & Broadcast logos. Follow the thread for updates. – techols about 2 years ago
  • That’s exactly what I was trying to say :) That would amazing man! – woody777 about 2 years ago
