It is great that local trailer support has been added using the “Trailers” subfolder, however in two cases that I can think of it isn’t convenient since the trailer xml reference got dropped.

(1) For those who have their local trailers in a central location and have taken the time to update the xml to reference (2) For those such as myself who play back their media on devices/software in addition to Media Browser (I have several different media players in my house as well as frequently test various media center apps), creating a Trailers subfolder with a video causes problems. Because of this I cannot use the “Trailers” subfolder approach in my setup.

The thought would be that both a “Trailers” subfolder and the xml reference should both be supported. In the case that both are present there should be a priority chain (i.e. if both are present the “Trailers” subfolder takes priority, otherwise whichever one is present is used).

Cheers Damian

  • do we still really want this? I think it was just the transition phase…. – Birkoff 2 months ago
  • I assume this is still not possible and you need a “Trailers” subfolder? If so then yes I would definitely want as having a trailers subfolder causes issue with any non Media Browser setup (and the reason why I cannot use this method) – dbone1026 2 months ago

I would like to see it. When streaming to a UPnP/DLNA device (WDTV Live in my case) Trailers are mixed in with movies and displayed all together when placed in a sub-folder off of the movie folder. I've had to place all my trailers in a common folder with trailer filess in the “moviename_trailer.extension” name format (as downloaded and named by MCM). This allows me to exclude trailers from displaying along w/ the movies on my WDTV Live when using stream mode. I would love to be able to config MB to look to another folder for Trailers and still show the trailer button within the movie details page. I have setup a different collection for Trailers in MB, but it just isn’t as nice as being able to play the trailer from the MB movie page.

This would make the MB Trailers feature DLNA Streamer friendly.

Do not know if this is the right area to put this question, of in wrong place i will move it.

Is it possible in the view for movies to have some form of indication that there is a trailer present for the film. E.g. in detail view in diamond i have the details of the film, then sometimes play the film direct from that, saves me going in to the film to play it, but if there was an icon to say there was a trailer then i would go into the film to watch the trailer.
