Question Thunderblade & Local Trailers

I understand that to view local trailers they must be moved into a new subfolder, named ‘Trailers’, within each current movie folder. This is not necessary if using default theme, but for other themes the trailer option will remain greyed out if not altered. Also, the trailer option will now point to your newly created ‘Trailers’ folder prior to implementing the actual trailer.mov. This is true if used for other than Mediabrower such as WMC generics or 3rd party.

I have 4 questions. Please forgive me for being naive. I have never used Mediabrowser or the related components to enhance it until a few days ago.

Is it anticipated that the theme plugin developers will modify their themes so the trailers don’t have to be moved into the new folders?

Can a future upgrade to Mediabrowser point to the trailer without moving the trailers into a new folder?

Can the XML file be modded?

Could someone create a batch command to create the trailer folder and move the trailer into it? Some of us have large collections and the thought of manually doing this is painstaking. (If I remember correctly, there was a command somewhere to create folders for each movie file and move them) Perhaps it could be a start? Something like C:/Movies/flick1.mkv got changed to C:/Movies/flick1/flick1.mkv

Obviously, if someone knows how to play the local trailers using the different themes and has a simple fix, please pass it on. TIA and this new user really likes Mediabrowser.

If I don’t create the new folder and move the trailer, my trailer tab within the theme remains greyed out

Yes, unfortunately this is currently the case. Go give your support in the topic mentioned in answer 2.

I have looked in the Metabrowser options. I see nothing that will batch the new folders and move the trailers into them for me? Perhaps you could elaborate?

That was the answer to question 3 “Can the XML file be modded?”.

I have no answer to question 4. There have been several requests for a tool or script that will automatically move the Trailers to the subfolder, but there’s isn’t one available at this time as far as I know.

Update:

4 SilentAssasin has posted an script that should be able to move your Trailers. You can find more details about it here.

For future reference, it’s best to seperate your questions in multiple topics, but most of your questions already have topics or answer, so here goes:

1: both Diamond and Vanilla already support the new Local Trailer mechanism. The other themes will likely follow soon.

2: before Thunderblade the Local Trailer information was stored in the xml. There is a feature request to bring this back with a preferred order. more details can be found here.

3: yes. Either use a tool like Metabrowser of manually edit the file with notepad. Please note that any incorrect settings can have unexpected results.

I understand Diamond, Vanilla, and the default themes support the trailers, but only after creating the new folder and moving the trailer into it. (If I don’t create the new folder and move the trailer, my trailer tab within the theme remains greyed out).

I have looked in the Metabrowser options. I see nothing that will batch the new folders and move the trailers into them for me? Perhaps you could elaborate? Again, I'm a fresh noob to all of this.

Thanks for your patience.
