Note: Now that media browser v.2.5 “Hydra” has been released these icon sets are now redundant and have been replaced by the sets available here
New MediaInfo Icon Sets for Hydra
Update 29 March 2011
From Media Browser release Titan the MediaInfo Icons can display the HDType progressive or interlaced.
Rather than re-upload all the different sets available on this page I am adding a new download link that includes the new icons in colour and monochrome for all the sets in one zip file.
Just add these to your existing sets and you are good to go.

UPDATE Aug 30th 2010
With the extended MediaInfo support in Orion I have combined all my mediainfo icon set fanart topics into this one.
If you have previously downloaded any of these icon sets please re-download as the naming convention has been changed and more icons added.
Big thanks to Neil18 who provided the original set on which these are based and whose coding helped to make this possible.

In this set the overlay is faint and dissolves away towards the lower edge.

More information on using custom MediaInfo Icons can be found here:
How do I configure and use the “MediaInfo Provider” Plugin?
If you wish to make your own custom icon sets more information can be found here:
Make your own MediaInfo Icon Sets
A set of sample videos is available which can be used to check the mediainfo icons,it includes some less common file types.
Depending on your codec set up not all the videos may play in Media Center but the mediainfo plugin will still display the media information.
Edit (Sept 23rd 2010)
With the extended media info support in Orion it is no longer necessary to compile your own Diamond build to add custom icons
Looks purtty. Nice work.
Excellent work. They look especially good with diamond, which soultaker added to the MB repository last night. So if you know how to modify and compile a plugin, you can get them working in diamond.

They look great Chipmonkery, thanks a lot for sharing them, gong to compile a new build right now :D
I have been working on them a new version is going up soon…
Like it! For me, I think I prefer the plain white ones as these call a bit too much attention to themselves and might make the screen look more busy. But I could see them being used by most. Only thing is, we need the American version of colored logo’s as our systems are incompatible with the ‘coloured’ version.. ;–)
can someone please tell how do i install this icons
thanks in advance
I can compile media browser but would love to know what has to be done in order to use these icons. Also will it work on other themes besides Diamond? I prefer to use Maelstrom and Pearl :)
These look GREAT!!!! I will have to see how long it takes me to put them to use. Also I have to find the time to do so, Great job on the colors and format options.

Would it be possible to turn this into a plugin? Maybe the plugin could have different icon sets and you could choose what style you want to match whatever theme you're using at the time.
I have a question: if I go through the steps of compiling my own build, do the icons appear right after that or are there additional steps involved?
Make sure that you have the Diamond Theme installed.
Create a clone of Media Browser on your computer following STEP 1 here
The original Diamond mediainfo icons are located here:
D:\Mercurial\MediaBrowser_Trunk\DiamondTheme\Images\MediaInfo
Replace the mediainfo icon files in your clone with the Diamond set (102x76) found in the download link at the top of this post.
Run D:\Mercurial\MediaBrowser_Trunk\DiamondTheme\Diamond.sln
Make sure the solution configurations drop down box is set to RELEASE (see pic below)
Make sure Media Browser is not running
(Optional..make a backup copy of your original Diamond.dll found at C:\Windows\ehome\Diamond.dll)
Right click “Solution Diamond (1 project)” and choose Rebuild Solution
That should be it..The diamond.dll in the C:\Windows\ehome directory will be replaced with the new one.
Restart Media Browser and the new coloured mediainfo icons should be there in Diamond.

Can I assume this functionality will be in the next build or next release of MB or of diamond – looks good
Hi Jarman ,
I'm not sure what you mean by before or now, do you mean before you modded the mediainfo icons in diamond?
If so that may be because some values for aspect ratios and mediatypes have not been added yet in mediabrowser.
Here is a link to just the diamond icons..it is the same as the one included as part of the main download above. (have now added a link to just the diamond icons in the main post)
Just replace the icons in D:\Mercurial\MediaBrowser_Trunk\DiamondTheme\Images\MediaInfo with these ones and rebuild as described above.
This will replace all of them with the colour ones except for hd720.png, hd1080.png and the tiny HD.png (please leave those in the folder)
The HD values 720 and 1080 shown in the mediainfo icons are replaced by the new colour ones..those other icons are for something else.
I have just checked and all but these ones will be replaced by colour ones, the naming is correct.
Please follow the instructions carefully and you should be ok.
When it is working you can swap between the original diamond and your modded version (swap the original diamond.dll with your modded one in the C:\Windows\ehome directory with mediacenter closed and restart).
If you did not backup your original diamond.dll you should be able to remove it as a plugin in MB configurator and then replace it by reinstalling diamond as a plugin.
You should find that wherever mediainfo icons were displayed in Diamond before the mod they are now replaced by colour ones.
I hope this works for you..
Got it, finally. It turns out the MediaInfo Provider plug-in somehow removed itself. I reinstalled it and now my layout looks like this.
Thanks a lot for all your work, chipmonkery!
Chipster — I am LOVIN' the latest color MEDIA INFO icon set. Now that it’s included in SUBDUED, it really sets it off!!!
Wondering why my movies that are in TrueHD, show no icon stating that. I have to go to media details in default 2.2.8 and it says TrueHD, but no icon. ooops, never mind. Noticed Pearl doesn’t recognise the sound format either. I'll submit the TrueHD icon to a wish.
love these icons, but is there an easier way to add them to media center?
the instructions on cloning media center really hurt my brains, and i am sure i am gonna mess up something.
Killer icons, one question – should they work with any theme, including Pearl?
Do you have to recompile if you are using the Vanilla theme on 2.2.9? I am having a couple issues with regard to metadata/mediainfo.
I have followed the instuctions on how to use the Mediainfo plug-in found here: link text. Created a MediaInfo folder under the ImagesByName with All and Vanilla subfolders. Downloaded the icon sets, placed the color diamond icons under the All folder and color vanilla icons in the vanilla folder. The vanilla theme still shows the default b/w icons. However, the diamond theme does show the color icons. Put colored icons in the root of the MediaInfo folder and still no luck with color icons in vanilla. Tried deleting the Provider cache, still same results
Also, I cant seem to get the mymovies.xml file to display subtitles in the details/info screen of a movie. Tried using metabrowser 2.0 to output the xml file, and it does create entries in the .xml file, but MB doesn’t to show the information, just ‘none’ If I down load a file, like an MKV that has subtitles, MB does show the information.
I've a bit of an issue with this release. Strange one to say the least, as it doesn’t affect all media (if I had to draw a pattern, I would say 1080p .mkvs are the ones impacted the most). Using the Diamond theme, everything is the newest version – installed just yesterday).
Anyway, for some films, in any view, when MediaBrowser is first opened, the only icons/meta-data that is pulled through is the little ‘Matroska’ icon – none of the other metadata registers. However, if I then click the film for the film details view, hit ‘refresh’, and then switch to any other view, the data is registered and all icons show up approprietly. This only lasts until i close WMC – the next time it is opened, the very same films exhibit the very same problem.
Not a huge deal, but wondering if its a bug or something I have set up incorrectly on my machine or something I need to do…
Thanks!
-George
PS: My apologies if I posted this in the wrong spot – obviously a newbie here. And second, I have not yet tried creating a custom .xml file to store the data per the website instructions and seeing if that would get the info to load immedietly. Want to avoid going that route if I can get it working automatically. (minimalist here)
@Unknown543
Hi George,
Sorry for the delay in replying,I have been away from the internet for a while.
It sounds as if mediainfo icon support is generally working ok but you have some issue with the caching of them for certain videos. Did you resolve this or is it still happening? You could try clearing the items cache or deleting the entire cache folder and letting it rebuild, disable sqlite if you are using it and see if that helps. Draco will be out soon and you could try a clean install and let us know if the problem still occurs.
You could try Sam’s Full Refresh Tool to check for problem files in your collection.
media info not showing.
i am using the Diamond theme. created two folders in \IBN\MediaInfo to store icons.
i have a \Diamond folder and an \All folder, but MediaBrowser is not showing any media details, am i missing something here?
thanks
@ smokarz1
This may be due to an issue with incorrect versions of the mediainfo provider plugin available from the plugin downloads in configurator.
The correct version of the plugin for MB 2.2.9 (Orion) is 1.0.9 not 1.0.5.
This should be available via the configurator soon .
In the meantime a version 1.0.9.0 provided by Neil18 is available here
Just replace the old version with this one in “C:\ProgramData\MediaBrowser\Plugins”
delete the "C:\ProgramData\MediaBrowser\Plugins\mediainfo" folder
start Media Browser (this will force an extract of MediaInfo.dll to \mediainfo again)
Please let us know if this fixes the issue with the current problem.
Just a quick thanx for the icons and templates. Was just about to request the psd files til I found this post. Thanks again.
I have a few TV series seasons which have been ripped from BluRays and are in 900p – is this something which could be given a separate icon?
I have started leaving my blu-ray rips in orignal folder structure now that I have bit streaming working and am now having problems with media info icons showing corect audio codec info. I was wondering what line in the my movies xml file trigers the icons. I have tryed changing the “audio codec” line from DTS to DTS HD MA 71 but I cannot get the corect icon to desplay. any ideas. Thanks in advance.
hey chip, these are great! im having a slight issue though – i can get the 720p and 1080p icons to work. i have them both in the folder with my other images with the names you gave them (hdtype_1080.png and hdtype_720.png) but they dont show up for me, even after clearing my cache. do i need to change the name to something else? let me know. thanks!
hey chip, can you update these by adding the channel icons (2.0, 5.1, etc) based on your post here? thanks!
