To Configure This Theme: Configure Your ThrogSoft Theme
Ok I have also reset all the trial periods for Destiny, so you will have a fresh 15 days starting from now. In addition, if you install Destiny and your trial periods for the other themes have expired it should reset their trial period to give you 5 more days (assuming I haven’t messed something up in the coding).
I installed Destiny from the Media Browser Configuration program, and then when I restarted Windows Media Center trying to use that theme, it tells me that I need to install all the other themes in order to access the trial version of any one of them.
So I did. I now have installed Destiny, Vanilla, Harmony, Centrality, Maelstrom, and Imperium; and I'm still unable to test the Destiny theme.
Any hints?
well, i uninstalled all the themes and reinstalled them, and they seemed to work for a while. but now I receive the “Destiny Trial Period Has Ended, pleas purchase to continue using” message. in the same day.
The only bummer here is that having a pile of themes installed kills load time…
I went ahead and bought all the themes today and I have it tweaked out how I like it but I noticed one issue. I am running destiny with harmony cover flow (this happens with vanilla too) when I go into my movies by genre that have their own icons (act, com, hor, etc) it shows the back drop of the icon. If I go into the configuration and turn backdrops on then back off it stops showing it, however next time I go into genre it is showing backdrops again even though backdrops for this view are turned off.
Throg,
First of all, I love your destiny theme. I want to purchase it from your website, but I still have a small issue that I'de like to get resolved first. In the movies detail view, I get no backdrops, although backdrops are enabled in the settings. Any ideas? Remklep
Anyplans to add support for gamebrowser?
What can I do if I've installed all these themes to try them out (Chocolate being my current but looking for something better) and they've expired before I got to really test them all? Just bad timing when I installed because I didn’t really get a change to work them over. I wish the themes would work up to the point of launching the video, and maybe then displaying the trial expiration instead of playing the video. That'd accomplish the same I think w/o impacting testing.
I may be behind in the times, or this may be addressed with the release of Hydra, but is Destiny the same thing as Kismet? I have a license for Destiny, but not Kismet and they are both still available. I assume this will be adjusted with Hydra and your entrance to the MB store. Thanks. Love your themes (still hoping for end times) :P
Love this theme any the thought behind it; but I do have one query.
I’m using Maelstrom Poster for my: Television/Movies/Etc categories, but it doesn’t work so well when navigating the Music Plugin menu – is there anyway I can change ONLY the Music Plugin theme to something else… Vanilla Poster maybe?
Many thanks.
Hi throg, Just spent some time tailoring ascendancy theme and absolutely love it. A nice refreshing change from the subdued theme i lived with for many months now.
Can you please tell me how on your destiny theme demo shown above do you convert from the list view for movies then it changes to the poster view for faster scrolling. Very cool feature that I am interested in implementing.
Thanks in advance, and great work!
Added a new EHS view to Destiny which is available to ALL no matter which licenses you own.
Its suppose to be clean and simple here is a peak…

Hi Throg – I know Atlas if going to help with ‘Plugin Theme’s to have own cache options’ – and I can’t wait to see that in Destiny.
I am wondering from a theme level if there is anything you can do provide different options on extenders vs. the main HTPC.
Basically I want to run Vanilla with no backdrops on my extender, and much fancier stuff on my HTPC.
If it helps – I am a complete bundle customer :D :D
Thanks for your time – if it is possible I’ll change this into a feature request, xnappo
Hi Throg.
Just installed latest version of Destiny (2.0.3.0) and it crashed Media Browser on launch. Checked my fontsize in MB Configurator and it was set to small, which is how I like it. Changed it to Default and no crash this time.
It’s the situation I had with one of your other themes which you quickly rectified.
Though I would give you a heads up :)
I’ve been searching all over for an answer to this and maybe it’s jut not possible. In the video the background has a white overlay with the backdrop showing through. How is this done?
Just to expand a little on my comment, you basically need to create a custom styles file for each theme you wish to use under destiny.
The easiest way to do this is place a file in ProgramData\MediaBrowser directory called ThemeNameCustomStyles.mcml
So for example if you wanted an Ascendancy custom file you would call the file AscendancyCustomStyles.mcml
Now here is the trick to get all the colors used by theme, in that custom styles mcml file put the following line of code:
<Mcml xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/2006/mcml" xmlns:cor="assembly://MsCorLib/System" xmlns:me="Me">
</Mcml>
Then launch MB, and everything should act as normal, but MB should have populated the file you just created with all the default colors used by theme.
Simply quit MB and edit the file and change the colors to the desired one, basically for the white theme its just inverted so if a color was set at 255,255,255 put it to 0,0,0 if it was 60,60,60 put it to something like 190,190,190.
Going to be adding a treat for you Destiny users out there… Another Details Page to select from.

Also something i’ve been working on… very much in alpha stages right now but seems promising, still thinking about placement…

…Google News RSS Feeds
Here’s a RSS feed that Rotten Tomatoes does for upcoming movies. One of the rare movie sites that have this. http://i.rottentomatoes.com/syndication/rss/upcoming.xml
Alright well I’ve checked a few RSS feeds and they seem pretty standard so I’ll probably be able to support customizable feeds.
Ok I’ve upped a new version of Destiny which supports the RSS reader on the EHS (Default View Only)
To add your own feeds simply go to ProgramData\MediaBrowser\RSS and edit the TSoftFeeds.xml (this file will be created if it doesn’t exists upon launch of the theme)
You will just need to add Feed items and it should read from them, I’ve placed CNN and Rotten Tomatoes RSS feed by default but you can simply remove them.
Here is the template you need to follow:
<RSSFeeds>
<Feed>http://www.newsisfree.com/HPE/xml/feeds/15/2315.xml</Feed>
<Feed>http://i.rottentomatoes.com/syndication/rss/upcoming.xml</Feed>
</RSSFeeds>
Let me know what issues you encounter… Oh I also moved it from the intial screen shot to the bottom of the screen as it was interfering with the RAL.

Just wanted to get some feedback from people concerning the RSS stuff. Have you been able to get it working? Is there anything you noticed which is working?
I have some other general queries which I need feedback on:
Current Issues:
For all you Destiny users, I’m going to be adding a Weather Forecast selectable from the EHS Root Scroller:

Throg,
Can you share your weather and other icons?
Thanks! xnappo
Would it be beneficial to add additional cities to the Forecast Details Page?
Here are the icons I use some of them maybe useless to you as I haven’t enabled features yet to the public that would allow them to be used but here they all are anyways…

Introducing the next feature being added to Destiny next version: Upcoming TV
User will be able to choose between List Layout Format and Grid Layout Format

I’ve upped the new version containing the Upcoming TV let me know if you experience any problems.
It may take a little while the very first time you launch for all items to show up in the scroller, as it has to populate the list by downloading information from the TVDB.
