I find that MCM does not (by default) insert, into the XML file, the metadata that is needed by MediaInfo. I see that MyMovies is recommended instead.
If I want to get the most from MediaInfo, do I need to switch from MCM to MyMovies for metadata? Is there an alternative solution (other than manually editing the MCM produced XMLs)?
Thanks for any advice…
Well, there are a couple ways you could get mediainfo. One way is to use a metadata tool like Metabrowser to populate the mediainfo entries in the local xml. Metabrowser has a very nice batch processing feature called Process All that will allow you to do this very easily. Or, you could install the MediaInfo Plug-in and it will pull info from your media files “on-the-fly”. Have a look at our KB article – How do I configure and use the "MediaInfo Provider" Plugin? for more information.
