The follw.it plugin will automatically synchronize your collection and watch activity to http://follw.it/. On the site, you can share with, and follow what your friends are watching and how they're rating and reviewing movies and episodes, get recommendations based on your activity, view a calendar of shows you follow, and more.

You will have a convenient profile link to share with your friends and family when they ask what movies or TV shows you have, or recommend. With the follw.it privacy settings, you get to decide if your profile should be open to the world, or only viewable by your friends (regardless if they have a follw.it account).

You will also get a forum badge which you can include in your signature on more traditional forums, to show off what you've been watching recently. Follw.it has several badges available, such as this one:

  • Media Browser 2.3.2 (codename Titan SP1) or later

  2. Click plug-ins and then More Plugins.
  3. Install the follw.it plugin from the list.
  4. Configure the follw.it plugin to log in to your account.

  • Collections

How it works

The follw.it plugin is designed to be unobtrusive. When using Media Browser you will generally not notice the plugin at all. At the background the plugin offers two-way communication between Media Browser and the follw.it website.

…Sending…

When the plugin spots Media Browser doing something of interest, it will send this information to follw.it, to update your profile.

  • New movies or tv shows will get added into your follw.it collection.
  • Playback Started will show up as “watching it” on your follw.it stream, and forum badges.
  • Playback Complete will cancel the “watching it” and add a “just watched” if your progress was > 90%

Additionally, if you rate a movie from the context menu will add the star rating to your stream and as your personal rating to the movie details page.

…Receiving…

When you update your profile on the website the plugin will receive this information.

  • A movie you marked as “watched it” in your follw.it collection will add the watched status indicator in Media Browser.

Tips & Tricks

Sync watched status between computers
If you have multiple computers and want to share the watched status information between these systems, you can use the follw.it plugin. Just configure the same follw.it user account on all systems. This can be any system in the world.

The “watched it” sync will only toggle the watched indicator. Resume tracking is not supported.
