Not sure what your plans are for this ebr but if possible it would be great if you could prevent MBINTROs from flashing back to MB after the intro and before the movie plays. I think it would just make it so much smoother, even if you could introduce a black screen or some kind of transition that would still look better than the flashback.

Interested in your thoughts.

The plug-in can’t really do anything about this as we have ended and are gone. Control is then passed back to MB which plays the movie and there is just the normal delay for either MC or the external player to crank it up.

I don’t even think this can be addressed in the core very well. If we were to throw a “Loading” page or something up before playing a movie then that is what you would land on if you “backed” out of the playing movie – ugly.

I didn’t think it would be straight forward :–(

I guess I was looking more at it form a “before the movie plays” element so the plugin would stop and the movie would kick straight in. I agree that a loading page or something similar would be uguly, just think it’s a shame that it has to go back to MB before the movie can start as it’s not what you would expect from a viewing perspective.

When I have shown friends they automatically think that something has gone wrong with the file jumping back to the menu before it can start.

Thanks for getting back to me though

I have the same “frustration” about this, but it’s a Media Center thing. I even asked this.

The only workaround I can come up with is to use a black media center background.

  • Ah well…. same idea but stuck with MCE… not the end of the world at least I know what the issue is now – thanks guys – tylor almost 2 years ago

I don’t fully understand how MB Intro’s works. Here is my thought though for what its worth (or not) When MB plays a playlist there is no flashback to MB, it just goes smoothly into the next video – doesn’t MB Intro’s create a playlist or is it sending separate requests? If it is sending separate requests, wouldn’t it make more sense to send one playlist request?

Disclaimer: Again, I have no real idea what I’m talking about hre, just throwing out the sound in my head.

  • Intros is called as a process before an item plays. The system is designed such that this process could be anything – it just happens to be intros in this case. Once the intros are finished, control is passed back to MB to actually play the item. Even if intros built a playlist of the items it plays, you would still have a pause. Attempting to do the whole thing in a playlist would severely limit what content is supported. – ebr almost 2 years ago
  • I see. I knew that you know, i was just checking to see if you did. :P – daavid almost 2 years ago
  • The bottom line is this issue would have to be addressed in the core – but I haven’t thought of a good (or any) way to do it yet. – ebr almost 2 years ago

I just have 7MC as a dark theme. The background is black. As far as transitions go it’s just a dark screen between intros and movie.

I agree with Birkoff and DigiTM. I was bothered by it too but simply used a black (or in my case a really dark theme since I could find a pure black one) theme so that the transition between the two wasn’t that noticeable. It actually doesn’t bother me as much now!

Well, I just thought of something that might work. Recently Rwhapham added a screensaver to his theme Subdued. I was tinkering around one day, set the screensaver to start after 2 minutes. I started a movie and the MBIntro trailer started, after the trailer was over, Subdued’s screensaver was playing between trailer/intro.

Ebr has something in the works (winks at Ebr) that might be able to add a plain black backdrop to be viewable between trailers/intros. That is of course if Ebr design’s this thing to be user configurable… being able to add your own image.

Just a thought. What do you guys think, good idea, or just a silly work around??

  • It at least deserves a test. I’ll see if I can duplicate this. – xzener almost 2 years ago
  • Well that didn’t go well…on the laptop anyway. Will try it on the HTPC. – xzener almost 2 years ago
  • Nogo there too. Ah well, it was worth a shot. – xzener almost 2 years ago
  • I think the only true way to loose the MCE background from flashing would be to use a black theme. I have found one, but MCE doesn’t like it and crashes. – xzener almost 2 years ago

I like that idea. If it makes it look smoother I all for it!

Added a wish… I forgot all about this feature request.

Added a wish too. Unless it’s in the new version coming soon already. Definitely need more supporters for this though if it was going to be glanced at.

  • I’m afraid its not in the near future. Ebr is still trying to figure out a way to do it. But we do need a following… Its one last thing to have a true theater effect. – xzener over 1 year ago

Okay, this isn’t really going to affect this particular issue very much, but I’d appreciate it if you guys would try this version of intros. It may make the transition between different intros a bit smoother – but you’re still going to see the flashback to MB after all the intros.

Pre-requisites for this version of Intros

  • MB 2.5.1
  • Windows 7 (sorry, no Vista support)

  • Dropped into Plugins folder, closed service, started Configurator, tried to launch MBIConfig but it crashed (MBIConfig has stopped working error). Running 2.5.1.0RC1. – xzener over 1 year ago
  • Tried playing a movie with intros… No intros played. Here are my LOGS. – xzener over 1 year ago
  • You’ve always had trouble with Intros…I don’t know why the config crashed but try deleting MBIConfig.exe from your plugins directory. It looks like it tried to play your intros. Went full screen for about 5 seconds but then quit. – ebr over 1 year ago
  • Funny thing is, your download link is MBIntros v1.0.1.1, I already had that one installed?!?! That one works fine. – xzener over 1 year ago
  • Also, please re-download cause I added some more messages. Thx. – ebr over 1 year ago

Worked like a charm. Much better transitioning.

  • Thanks. If only I could actually release it… – ebr over 1 year ago
  • Why not? – xzener over 1 year ago
  • Because it uses the W7 MC dlls it is not compatable with our back-end stuff. I’m looking into if I can upgrade the back end without screwing anything else up. – ebr over 1 year ago
  • FWIW, this is the best MBIntros has EVER ran on my system. – xzener over 1 year ago
  • So this version only runs in Windows 7? But not Vista? Wondering how that survey response when installing Mediabrowser has gone. – DigiTM over 1 year ago
