I'm from the Netherlands and I use subs that are made by people here. I follow a lot of TV shows and sometimes I really don’t know what subtitle I already have so I can watch an episode of any TV show. It would be great if I could see in the episode info if the subtitle is present in the folder.
Thanks
Edit: Jan 2011
The mediainfo plugin is able to detect an internal subtitle file within a video and media-details can display the language or languages of the included files.
From Draco we have the ability to add subtitle information by xml as well.
It would be good to extend this support to external subtitle files placed in the movie directory.
We could look for the common file extensions used (srt, sub,idx etc) and then extract the language info from the filename for use in SubtitleString, possibly indicating that it is an external sub.
I would also like to request this feature. A simple check to see if a .srt file is also in the folder could do the trick to show an indication if subtitles are present.
or perhaps an xml addition which could be populated by a metadata gatherer like metabrowser for example. this would allow for manual editing if subtitles are embedded in the movie file.
some input and changes on the metabrowser side would require this to work, but if the feature is accepted, it’s a reason for metabrowser to start supporting it.
+1 for this… some sort of a icon to show if theres a subtitle in the movie folder. I now that the subtitle plugin can be used to check if theres a subtite, but it would be easier with some sort of icon. :)
Is this something that is covered by the subtitle plugin? If so should we close / or assign this to it?
This is partially covered by the subtitleprovider plugin, but only when using the context menu on an individual movie.
I've posted subtitles availability stored in xml for use by theme develop... but haven’t got a single response yet.
There is no way for Miksu to show subtitle details on theme views. The Theme developers will need to do that, but they will need some kind of info what to show and when.
I would like to keep downloading the subs from my favorite site www.bierdopje.com and have something like the watched status indicator in MB for subs.
Thanks
Is this going to be implanted in the next release?
Still wondering if this is implented in the Cronos release. It has supporters enough!
@heula I don’t think this is in the Cronos releas because it’s unassigned atm. But I like the Idea +1 Hope for a next release or a quick fix before the Cronos releas. Hope some of the progamers will pick it up.
Or like Sam said before:
Is this something that is covered by the subtitle plugin? If so should we close / or assign this to it?
Maybe the programer of the subtitle plugin can make this happen so we don’t have to wait for a new releas of MB.
Good day,
I hope this can be done within MB by scanning the movies folders for srt file, then report that
Now days I DL srt subtitles for my mkv movies for the family, it will be helpful if info within the movie that it have subtitle, example option for the user setup to chose what giving srt subtitle are, like Arabic and a like.
My best
Hello, I am just wondering : how to you know if finding a subtitle online (when you ask the program manually) has been a success ? I doesn’t display anything.
Who is going to give this request an in progess status?
Miksu with his subtitleprovider plugin or is Sam going to implant it.
The flag idea next to the media info at the bottum of the screen would be perfect.
Does anyone have any way of getting in touch with Miksu to ask him to add functionality to save xml tags to mymovies for each subtitle language found in the movie folder? Something like:
<Subtitles>
<Language>ENG</Language>
<Language>FRA</Language>
<Language>SPN</Language>
<Language>ITA</Language>
</Subtitles>
I know Fatal intends on adding the ability to search for subtitles in metabrowser at some point too.
Has anyone thought about suggesting this feature to the MediaInfo plugin devs? I think that would be the simplest way, as they provide additional information about the movie.
In the mean time, Media Control will appear at the start of a title for a few seconds, if there are subs available. Clicking it takes you to a menu where you can choose and offers a ‘back to full screen tab’….. all within Media Browser. There are many other options you may find useful in the menu as well. 32 and 64 bit.
you really need to make the plugin have the option to download multiple subs in different languages. I like to watch movies with english subs, but my brother does not speak english very well and likes subs in our native language. Maybe use the standard naming: subtitleName.twoletterLangCode.extension example: transformers.en.srt transformers.mk.srt I have used this with MPC HC and it understands the .en or .mk and when selecting which subtitle to use it names them as English or Macedonian.
EDIT: MPC HC automatically loads the .en subtitle even though its not absolutely same name as the movie transformers.avi. the .en or .mk don’t mind it to load the correct subs.
Any update for this for future MB build?
Good day,
I really like to see this going, also metabrwoser do mediainfo “custom” can this fill the issue if it approved?
My best
I'm not sure if we can call this complete, but subtitles availability can be saved in local metadata now and the Pearl theme for example can show the subtitles at various locations.
It’s still a manual process of specifying the correct language through a third party fetcher like MetaBrowser and it does require local metadata, but it’s a step in the right direction.

Good day,
Yes Birkoff, it was a requested and ST done it:
Pearl theme to display custom subtitle
But still not as planned tho as general MB, this only apply in Pearl theme, no others theme do that (I am not sure tho).
Next step is to look up for srt file (or others subtitles format) and user can chose the option what that srt language is.
