I’m guessing this isn’t a bug with mediabrowser, feel free to move it if im wrong.

This crash happens when i’ve watched a complete movie, then pressing play on another movie “everytime”. I haven’t been able to reproduce it outside of media browser, but i’ve never watched a whole movie outside either.

I never had this issue 4-5months ago, (win 7 not updated, old drivers, cccp 2010-10-10, media browser 2.3.2.

After that I did a reinstall with a complete win7 updated, used driver genius to do a complete update on all my drivers, (gfx, chipset, etc), latest cccp, latest mediabrowser.

I’m hoping anyone recognizes this as a codec issue?, would be a pain to check everything else. Any suggestions?

  • Oh and i’ve tried the two latest versions of cccp, maybe win7 handles codecs in a different way or a recent win7 update? – lappen over 1 year ago

whats the format of the movies in question? is there a pattern to when or when not you see this symptom?

eg.. for mkvs i see this symptom for avi/mpg i dont…

like you i see this as a codec issue.. in win7 have you used the filters tool to make sure the codec you want for each file format is selected???.. sometimes cccp/sharks doesnt correctly override the native win7 ones..

  • MKV/h264 (haven’t checked other files as I only have these)… Pattern : Watch a movie, atleast 30-40min or to the end, play another movie or try to shutdown mediacenter results in a crash/restart of mc haven’t tried the filters tool, will try it and let you know if it works. – lappen over 1 year ago
  • checked the filter tool for mkv/h264 and CoreAVC was set as default so no problem there, also from toolpage “he changes that this tool makes to the preferred filter settings of Windows only have effect when a player uses DirectShow. Windows Media Player and Media Center use a new framework called Media Foundation instead of DirectShow when playing certain file formats." – lappen over 1 year ago

I can’t remember all the details now but I used to get this same error on an earlier win 7 media center build. I know the problem was related to Life Extender, sorry I can’t be more help.
