Was thinking it would be nice to be able to ‘attach’ bonus features like the making of, or deleted scenes to MB.
I was thinking along the lines of another tab next to people called extras.
If there is a directory in the movie folder called extras, MB would load these up under that tab.
They would play in the same way as other movies (i.e a folder.jpg and an xml file to describe them), to make it easy to implement.
Or is there a way to do this already?
I like this idea too! I already use the trailers feature tho…so would be nice to have something seperate for extras!
I haven’t stopped thinking about this all day! This would be a fantastic feature! if i had another wish left….this would get it!
could maybe look something like this??
this is obviously just a mock up using paint! (basic i know)
this is how im storing them at the moment (in the same folder as the movie with a ‘series type’ folder and .xml) http://www.freeimagehosting.net/image.php?83541d139f.jpg
would be ideal to have this as part of the menu instead of having to have seperate sub folders inside the movie folder
Hey Dom...do you use extras in ur collection already?
This is a quick vid showing how mine are currently stored! its OK for now but could be better! let me know what you think?
So how do I create that? I want my extras in my dvd and bluray folders!
that would be great. I like the idea of a tab.
Be great to just attach any file you wanted to it, so you could say download a video from youtube and just put it in the folder to be associated
This is approved, we do not have much more room under the play trailer button. Waiting for a dev to take this on.
Not sure about the Diamond theme, but in the default or Vanilla …
What if you just arrange the Extras and Trailers into separate tabs since there is plenty of real estate there.
Example: ---------- | Resume | ---------- ---------- | Play | (Backdrop) ---------- ---------- | Close | ---------- _________ _________ __________ __________ / General \ / Actors \ / Extras \ / Trailers \ --------------------------- --------------------------------- ---------- ---------- | Resume | | Play | Move Title - Extra 01 - Making Of .avi ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- | Resume | | Play | Move Title - Extra 02 - Deleted Scenes.avi ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- | Resume | | Play | Move Title - Extra 03 - Behind the Scenes.mp4 ---------- ----------
I have added a new layout in DESIGN for the default Theme.
Any opinions on whether this would make things easier or more efficient?
Any possibilities this could get on the roster for next release?
For movies I just rip to DVD and Blu-ray folder structures w/o taking anything out so I wouldn’t need it for ‘extras’ in case its for a DVD or Blu-ray. However I do like this as I would use it for seasons of TV series which I rip to individual files.
Instead of a new tab of any sort however maybe at the end of the list of files you can have a folder which can contain files of its own as well. I haven’t gotten something like that to work but maybe it is already possible? Something like this below
Don’t know how to indent on here so in parentheses i have listed what each is
Main list: 1 - episode name (file) 2 - episode name (file) 3 - episode name (file) 4 - episode name (file) 5 - episode name (file) 6 - episode name (file) Extras (folder) Deleted Scenes (folder) 1 - episode name (file) 2 - episode name (file) 3 - episode name (file) 4 - episode name (file) 5 - episode name (file) 6 - episode name (file) Other (folder) 1 - The making of (file) 2 - Interview with ... (file)
This is a nice idea, often ripping things down to MKV as the novelty of ripped DVD’s with menus is wearing thin, I have to trade off losing extras, this would solve this problem and provide a nice/better alternative.
I'm out of wishes but +1 for this great idea.
@unwanted09 great idea
@docmagic that looks realy great :)
This would be awesome since this is one of the main reasons I stick with my 4gig ISO files instead of ripping to mp4 or mkv. This would save me a lot of space.
I hate to revive an old thread.. was progress ever made on this idea? I'd love to make some of the bluray extras actually stick in my library. Money where my mouth is: I'd throw down $100 to the developer that comes up with this… :) I know, slim pickin' for all the work, but I'm not made of money.. but this is easily the #1 feature still missing I think.
I've come up with kind of a work around, where I pile the extras into their own seperate folder like “Get Him to the Greek” and then another folder “Get Him to the Greek Extras” so that Mediabrowser doesn’t chose the wrong file to play when I want to start.
I have a subfolder in my movies called “BONUS”, where I keep my bonus feature files. The only unfortunate side effect of this is that when I'm browing through my movies, any movie that has one of these folders does not appear with the full movie description on the main movie browsing screen. When I select a movie with this subfolder present, I am then taken to a screen with an icon for the movie and one for the bonus feature folder. Select that and I'm given the list of my bonus features. It’s pretty messy. This issue is really the missing link for me in media browser (and is why I still use MyMovies for Movies and MediaBrowser for only TV shows.
I had this idea also, thats how I came across this thread. It would be a fantastic add-on, I want this feature. It is different from the trailers feature as you can choose to watch the trailer before you watch the film, but once you have watched the film you may want to watch the extras, most blu rays have different extras, so having a small menu to choose the extras you want to view would be great. D:\Movies\First Movie\Extras\Extras1.mkv
Please Please Please add this as a option or a add-on, I think it would be a hit.
I'll up my offer from $100 to $250. And a six pack of the developer’s favorite.
I've always wanted a six pack! Although I suspect that making this happen is slightly outside of my capabilities!
Is anyone looking at this yet? I’ve pretty much abandoned MB for MM because of this issue (though even with MM it’s a bit clunky, especially for TV series). MM handles Bonus Features for movies quite nicely (though you’re hosed if your database gets messed up, as it’s all custom “discs” to get it to look nice) but MB handles these very nicely for TV series. I wish one of the two would take this issue on head first and make it possible to do what this thread suggests. If I could attach a Bonus Feature" folder to any movie in MB, it would be AH-MAZING! Please, someone????
I know I wouldn’t use this TOO often, but I can think of a few movies I have extras for that I’d love to incorporate into MB (mainly Pixar movies and their shorts that played with them).
Offer up to 500 for the developer who solves this. (Well, as long as they don’t solve it before January 15). (and yes, serious – I know some developer here has to know I have -always- kicked in). This would be a serious, major feature for not just me but for quite a few.
