Discuss Missing Folder.jpg/Backdrop.jpg Montage Creators

Im not sure if anyone would be interested but I have always had one or two movies with with either no backdrop.jpg or folder.jpg and I have never really been bothered with creating my own. I have in the past and im more than capable but often cannot be bothered.

So, I decided to write 2 tools (one for each) which go through my movies one by one, detects those with either a missing bdrop or folder and extracts several shots from that movie, then combines them all into one nice montage. This is then saved with the correct filename in the movies dir then the app moves onto the next film.

Below is an example of a backdrop created by the tool whilst in use on my MB(still working on the folder.jpg one). Im happy with the poster creator now too. I wanted to get the Folder name in the image as a title to make it more poster like! New example image below (having been run through coverart).

Let me know if any of you would be interested in me releasing it. :-D

I for one would love it and have some requests! You won’t believe it, but I was searching for a wallpaper generator right this minute.

For music videos this would be awesome.

But what I was actually looking for right now was a tool that generates a wall of images (like MB Music plugin does if there are enough albums in the library or what MCE does when you play music.

Particularly I am trying to generate a random wallpaper that stiches all my series posters together so I can use it as a backdrop for that collection.

It would be awesome if you could create something like that for me

  • just so i have this right, take one backdrop from each of your tv shows, shove them all together in one big montage to enable you to use them where? EHS? – radeon over 1 year ago
  • no, take each tv shows poster, shove them together and let me save it as a backdrop. to display as the backdrop for “tv series” media collection. a bit like this but neatly next to each other. Like the Music Plugin does – birkoff over 1 year ago
  • if it was truly random I could generate a few images and have it rotate in a very cool effect showing posters at different places in the wallpaper – birkoff over 1 year ago
  • oh right, yeah, should be doable. let me platy around for a bit with the idea! :-D – radeon over 1 year ago
  • ah, ok, the random could be a little more difficult but i will will see what i can do! :-D – radeon over 1 year ago

I would love this.

I have all kinds of odd ball non-commercial movies (sports, vacation, instructional etc) that I like enough to keep around, but not enough to make covers and backdrops for, even if I knew how (which I don’t).

Actually, I keep most of them in their own collection now so I don’t have to see (and be reminded) of all those with missing covers/backdrops in my main collection.
