I have decided to apply a licence requirement to all of my apps from now on.

See here for full details.

This app will go through your movies one by one, detect those with a missing poster (folder.jpg), extract several shots from that movie, then combine them all into one nice montage. This is then saved with the correct filename in the movies dir then moves onto the next film.

It needs to be placed in the route of your movies.

Filetypes currently supported: .avi; .mkv; .mpg; .mpeg

Here’s an example of the sort of things it can produce:

Changelog 1.0.0.2:
Added Experimental MP4 support

I tried the folder montage creator for the first time after successfully using some of the other scripts. It runs for a short time – 4-5 seconds and then simply stops without any message and, of course, no folder.jpgs are created.

I am running the script in a virtual machine (WinXP) which I use to manage all the metadata for my media collection and also as a security measure. There is no local installation of Media Centre. Does the script rely on an additional executable such as ffmpeg.exe or is it completely self contained?

  • What format are the videos in that youre running it on? Can you also give me a breakdown of your movie folder structure and where the montage exe sits in all of that? – radeon 4 months ago

Sorted since I posted my comment. Had an inconsistent folder structure for one one video which caused the script to abort. Thanks in any case.
