Question Changing the default Movies entry point

I realize this isn’t strictly speaking a MediaBrowser issue, but with the wealth of information here I was hoping someone would know how to do this…

I am using Win7 x64 for my HTPC with MB 2.5.1. I recently purchased a Harmony 650 remote to run everything from a single point and so far so good, except when it comes to getting to MB through the “Activities” links on the remote. Logitech has built in hte IR codes for Win7MC so that one of the actions can be to automatically enter the Movies Library, but since that sucks so bad and MB is so awesome, that isn’t where I want to go. Theoretically I should be able to program a sequence to get me there (i.e. enter Music, back one, up x2, enter/ok), but that doesn’t seem to be supported anymore.

I was hoping that someone here would know of a way to change the entry point for the default Movies Library so that when entered, instead of calling that, it could be changed to call MB instead. If anyone knows how to do this or which registry entries to modify, I would love to hear it!

Thanks!

not sure what software the harmony is using for the remotecontrol

the imon software has an application launch and (custom command)

you would need to have it run C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Media Browser shortcut

  • Unfortunately the Harmony uses proprietary software or a web portal to program the remote. That is why I am hoping someone knows the registry entry or some other location/item/entry that lets me change which application is called when “Movie Library” is selected in 7MC. – TeddyBear over 1 year ago

Hi,

I’m new at all this so I hope I don’t miss lead you Teddybear.

I replaced the WMC7 default movie library with media browser on my htpc win7 x64 using windows media center studio and it seems to work just fine. If you haven’t already done so you will need to download and install windows media studio and mcsfix.

mcsfix is needed so changes made by media center studio amongst other things will work.

  • Yeah, I am already using Media Center Studio and while you can add MB to another strip, you cannot change what entering the “Movies” label does with it. – TeddyBear over 1 year ago

Teddybear just so I understand you correctly even if you setup wmc as shown the remote still doesn’t start MB?
