Feature Master Config Option

When an environment has multiple Media Browser installations (for example, 2 or more HTPC’s in a household), how about an option to store a master config file on a shared device (home NAS solutions are now common & would most likely hold the movie files being referenced by Media Browser).

This would allow a master config file that could be used by all Media Browser installations, and perhaps any specific settings could be over-ridden on each HTPC. In my instance, I would like to have one config that is used on all HTPC’s in the home.

I would expect that the master config would be cached & refreshed when MCE is openned, or cached config is used if the master config file is unreachable.

Seems like it would be quite a bit of work to develop for not all that much benefit – once you’ve got everything all set up, how often do you really change your config?

You should be able to set up all your options on one PC and then copy that config file to the others, although you’d probably also need to bring over folder images saved in your IBN folder.

What you might find useful is the ability to share Display settings, which are more likely to be changed on a semi-regular basis, and this is already possible. Have a read here:
